The year is at an end. 2023 is over, and oh boy what a year this has been. I'm going to detail all the major events that happened this year and the month they happened in, detailing some of the experiences and the things I've learned from each of them. Hopefully it provides some insight to me about how I should go into 2024. I'm also not going to write what I want to do in the new year, since that is almost always pointless and completely off the mark when you look back in a year's time.
I am finally graduating in July of 2024. It's been 5.5 years since I started my computer science degree, a degree that takes 3 years at full time. It's ironic since my original dual degree of computer science and arts was 5.5 years, so I'm graduating at the perfect time anyway. 4 subjects are needed to graduate, so it's going to be a proper full-time study load for the send off. I've applied to do tutoring, so I hope I can do that as well to help people like me go through the courses that I found challenging and make a little money on the side hehe.
Jensen Labs is doing great. We are about to commence our biggest project ever, working with a medical institute to build out an Ordering & Inventory Management System (OIMS). Our job with NCCNavigator is still going strong and we are expected to have that project up and operational in the first few months of next year. I am hoping that we can have a few more people onboard by the end of next year and also some projects under our belt. Our revenue needs to be in a great position too.
Duclare is going well (after renaming from Complai). We're looking for a niche to start off with and are narrowing in on that. Our product is stable and supports large workloads, so we are excited to do push into an industry we're passionate about. We had an interview with YC for Duclare as well, which was absolutely unreal. We were so excited to be given that offer and couldn't believe we even got the offer in the first place. Obviously it didn't turn out as expected and were pretty much roasted for not already being a thriving startup, but that was just bad luck. I am certain we will get in for the S24 batch.
On a personal matter, I believe that the problems with my heart (have been getting ectopic beats and PVCs since the 7th May) will disappear in the near future. I am seeing a cardiologist on the 4th January and my doctor again on the 8th to explore more possible root causes. I will not stop searching until I have found it. I do not believe in my ectopics being labelled as "idiopathic". My echocardiogram in June proved that I have a perfect heart, bloods were all normal and nothing was out of the ordinary, which means that the root cause isn't stemming from my heart. The frequency has dropped significantly since I stopped using supplements/multivitamins since Christmas day, so I am keen to see why the frequency has dropped so much (possible electrolyte imbalance or gastrointestinal inflammation?). It's pretty much consumed me mentally since May; it didn't even feel like May or June even happened. The anxiety induced by it was nuts, especially having a fucking panic attack in August wasn't what I would describe as fun. But those days are nearing their end and I'm excited about the future.
Anyway, hope you had a great year for whatever year it could be (strange to think this might be read in 2025, 2052 or even 2520. Who knows what I'll become for people to come back this far and read end of year posts.
See you next year and I hope the posts I make in 2024 are those of achievement, success and happiness. Enjoy some Auld Lang Syne.
